Brother Wolf Animal Rescue is always looking for qualified interns to help further our life saving programs. We accept interns year round in many of our departments. All internships are unpaid.

Foster Intern (15-25 hours per week)
The Foster Intern will assist our Foster Team with planning orientations and trainings for new and experienced foster parents, as well as helping to create educational tools for fosters to take home. Additionally, assist with screening new foster applicants to approve them as fosters for Brother Wolf. You’ll get valuable experience working with foster parents and staff to coordinate placement of animals in foster homes, while coordinating the orientations and trainings. Must have experience working in customer service, be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, and be willing to learn data entry and searches.
Retail Management Store Intern (15-30 hours per week)
Hands on training with a merchandising expert to learn about retail product placement, as well as how to use social media for business purposes. Great customer service and data entry skills are a must for this internship!
Events Management Intern (10-20 hours per week)
The Events Intern will help with event planning, fundraising, and communications for exciting Brother Wolf events, including play a major role in our two Fall fundraisers. This intern will learn valuable event management and marketing and communications experience, as well as get to be out front during some of the coolest events in Asheville!
Community Relations Intern (12-20 hours per week)
This Intern will assist our Volunteer Manager with daily volunteer management, trainings and group volunteering. He or she will learn the ropes of managing volunteers for a nonprofit organization as well as how to expand and improve an existing volunteer program.
Community Outreach Intern (10-20 hours per week)
The Community Outreach Intern will spearhead our NeighborCorps campaign as part of our four-point plan to build a No Kill Asheville. Duties will include coordinating community canvassing efforts, overseeing and training canvassing captains and teams, as well as, managing and distributing information about needs in the community. This intern will have a first-hand impact on identify issues with pets people are having and connect them to resources available at Brother Wolf to keep animals happy and healthy and in their homes, and out of the shelter system.
Data Entry Intern (12-20 hours per week)
This inter’s duties include, processing intakes for new animals, updating dog and cat bios, uploading pictures into the animal’s online files, as well as creating and managing spreadsheets. He or she will gain first hand experience in all types of computer programs as well as make a real impact on helping animals get adopted.
Front Desk Intern (15-30 hours per week)
The Front Desk Intern is responsible for providing the Brother Wolf staff the support that they need including answering phones and emails, and greeting visitors and volunteers with a smile and willingness to help. Expect to learn details about Brother Wolf operations and get extensive customer service experience.
Behavior Intern (12-20 hours per week)
The Behavior Intern will assist our Animal Behavior Manager and her staff with daily play groups, environmental enrichment, and some behavior modification. You’ll get valuable experience working with dogs and helping them develop skills to be more adoptable. Must have experience working with dogs, shelter experience preferred.
TNR Intern (10-15 hours per week)
Learn the ins and outs of trap-neuter-return by shadowing members of the TNR team in the field. Help reduce the community cat population, improve cat lives, and assist cat caretakers and neighbors in this incredibly important program.

Intern Service Award. Amount: $1,000. Deadline: Dec. 31st annually. Open to all interns at non-profit organizations. Apply to Asia Times.
Women’s Leadership Scholarship. Amount: $1,000. Deadline: March 31st annually. Offered to high-achieving women, working as an intern in a non-profit. Apply to AirSafe Research.
EU International Intern Scholarship. Amount: $1,000. Deadline: Dec. 31st annually. Open to U.S. and international students, working as interns at a non-profit. Apply to EU Business.
Minority College Scholarship. Amount: $1,000. Deadline: March 15th annually. Available to minority students with GPA above 3.0, interning at a non-profit organization.
