Special Needs Animals
Brother Wolf is fortunate that through our network of volunteers and foster homes and with the generosity of our donors, we can take in special needs pets: those that are elderly, ill, hard to adopt or in desperate need of care.
Visit our Underdog page to meet some of the pets who have been with us for awhile. Maybe they've been waiting for you!
Sidney
Sidney appears to be a purebred Manx (tailless) cat. He's about 5-7 years old, a rescued stray, neutered with all his shots and in excellent health. He needs a special home, as he has feline leukemia.
Sidney loves to play, behaves wonderfully with small children, and is good with other cats. He's sweet-natured, gentle and non-destructive, and is the best snuggler in the house. Cats with feline leukemia can live healthy, happy lives for months or even years from the time they are diagnosed. We know that whoever gives this great guy a chance for a wonderful life - no matter how shortened it might be - will receive their kindness back from Sidney tenfold.
If you'd like to meet Sidney or learn more about him, call his foster mom Jennifer at 231-7205 or jennifer.freelance@gmail.com. To learn more about Feline Leukemia, go to www.vet.cornell.edu/fhc/brochures/felv.html.
Miles
Hi everyone, my name is Miles! My family had to move away but could not take me with them, so I am very used to being in a home. I'm super sweet and love to be loved on. I like catnip, purring at deliverymen and being near my people. I need extra special people to adopt me since I am on a special food for my tummy - I have irritable bowel syndrome. I'm currently eating Science Diet W/D or R/D wet food and this costs about $50-$60/month. Contact Brother Wolf at 828-505-3440 to make arrangements to see my big green eyes in person, or email my fostermom at dwannataunton@yahoo.com.
Tammy
Tammy is a very sweet girl who is about 1 and a half years old. She loves to go on walks and car rides and just get attention. If you are an active person, she may just be the perfect girl for you.
If you have another large dog for her to play with, even better. She loves kids! She also enjoys taking walks and hikes and splashing around in the water.
While we think she's gorgeous, bigger dark-colored (black or brown) dogs are often hard to place.
If you would like to meet Tammy, please stop by the Adoption Center at 31 Glendale Ave, Asheville, NC 28803 or call 828-505-3440 for more information.
Barbie
I am in the 3 to 5 year old age range. I wandered into a yard the first of May, 2011 weighing only 30 lbs. What no one knew at the time was that I had been poisoned or inadvertently gotten into something toxic. I gave my foster family quite the scare when blood work showed I was in liver failure. However, I rallied and pulled through with a fighting spirit.
I now weigh 47 lbs. I am almost completely deaf and my eyesight is quite compromised. We don't know if I was born that way or if the toxin caused some or all of it. I am full of life and am looking for that special home I need. Please call my foster mom, Pam, at 828.778.3011 or email her at beagleblvd@att.net for more information.
Tubby
Hi there!! My name is Tubby, and I am a pretty tall boy! I'm not overweight, so I'm not sure why they call me Tubby.
Anyway, I have personality plus, and my coat is a very nice pattern and color. I am about 3 years old, and it takes me a while to warm up to strangers, especially men.
I would love to go to a house with a fenced yard and another dog to play with. I would do best in a home without small children.
I do like to be outside, but I'll snooze inside on my dog bed all night. I like to hike and play with toys. I am a true love once you get to know me.
Come see me at the Adoption Center (31 Glendale Avenue, Asheville, NC 28803), so I can say hi! Or, if you call 828-505-3440, they will be glad to tell you all about me.
