Micah, because my favorite Bible verse is in the book by the prophet of that name: “What does the Holy One require of you but to do justice, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” (Micah 6:8)
 
And Martí, for the hero of Cuba, Jose Martí, who was a poet, novelist, liberator, and leader of resistance
against American empire.
 
This seems to sum up the gentle nature of Micah, who, despite a difficult first year, greets the world with joy and affection. If he’s not the world’s sweetest dog, he is surely the first runner-up.  He even got Sophie (my curmudgeonly older dog) to romp in the pasture with him this morning – nothing short of a miracle. After many stops in his young life – some better than others – Micah is finally home."
