You’re Invited to a Kitten Shower!

Kitten-Shower-FB-event-header2

We’re delighted to invite you to our spring Kitten Shower on Saturday, April 15th from noon to 5PM at our Adoption Center, 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville! Enjoy yummy snacks, family-friendly games, prizes, and more! The shower is free and open to the public.

We expect to have up to 1,500 kittens arrive at our door this year.

Please help us by bringing supplies or donating funds so we won’t ever have to turn a kitten away this kitten season.

Bring a gift(s) from our Wishlist and you’ll be entered into the raffle for a $100 gift certificate to our Re-Tail store for Brother Wolf branded merchandise! (Five tickets per donated item; for cash donations, five tickets for every $20 value.)

Kitten Season – the time of year when cats start giving birth in huge numbers – is just starting here in Western North Carolina, but we’re already seeing lots of pregnant cats and young kittens like Garnet, pictured at right.

Garnet was orphaned at just a few weeks old, and her prognosis was not good. She and her siblings Lapis, Marble, and Tiger’s Eye came to our adoption center for intensive care, surrogate feeding, and quarantine to protect their delicate immune systems.

We’re delighted to report that two weeks later, all four babies are doing well and growing like weeds!

Of course, caring for kittens like Garnet is costly – and can take weeks of TLC in a foster home. At our spring Kitten Shower, we invite you to learn more about fostering kittens, meet our foster team and volunteers, and sign up! Fosters provide temporary safe housing until kittens are old enough to be adopted.

Can’t make the Shower but want to help?

Visit the Amazon Wishlist here to have gifts sent right to the kittens, or stop by Target (located right next to the Adoption Center) to shop from our Baby Registry! Or Make a financial donation to help with medical care here – the average cost to prepare a kitten for adoption is $200!

I hope to see you there, and thank you for caring about the babies!

PS. There are many different fostering opportunities, including bottle-feeding newborns, socializing semi-social kittens, and providing safe spaces for nursing mothers with their babies. For more information about fostering, visit www.bwar.org/volunteer/foster or email foster@bwar.org.
