"Shelter dogs aren't broken.  They've simply experienced more life then other dogs.  If they were human, we would call them wise.  They would be the ones with tales to tell and stories to write.  The ones dealt a bad hand who responded with courage.  Do not pity a shelter dog.  Adopt one." - Pedigree Foundation

Our Guardian Angels

Brother Wolf is lucky that through it's network of volunteers and foster homes and with the generosity of it's donors, that we can take in special needs pets; those that are elderly, ill, hard to adopt or in desperate need of care.

Beck & Bones

Beck and Bones are 10 week old male Aussie mix pups. They are both completely deaf and visually deficient, most probably as the result of the backyard breeding of two Merle Aussies. ( When two merles are bred together, about 25% of the litter (statistically speaking) will inherit a merle gene from each parent (these pups are called “double” merles) and they will be so color diluted that they are mostly or all white. Of the double merles, the huge majority (reportedly up to 90%) will be congenitally deaf (and/or have vision problems). Because deaf dogs are harder to sell or place, many puppy-mill and back-yard breeders, and some “well accepted” breeders, simply cull (KILL) all the white puppies at birth.)

Beck and Bones are afflicted with the Double Merle deficiencies, which affected their hearing and eyesight. They can see well enough to get along if the lights are on, and have mastered the environment in their foster home with no problem. They do well with other dogs and love to play just like any other puppy. They would need specialized training and guidance -- either a deaf/vi rescue or a qualified home. They would do well as a companion to another tolerant dog or pup.

Turtle

This cute little guy was brought to the REACH Emergency Animal Hospital by a good Samaritan; he had been struck by a car and his pelvis was broken in two places, he had a dislocated left leg and the femur was broken. At such a young age, everyone who met Turtle was determined to make sure this sweet boy had a long, happy and healthy life ahead of him. Turtle went into surgery August 24 and came out with 18 staples. He is expected to recover fully and not suffer pain or arthritis as he grows older. Turtle is now staying in a loving fosterhome now undergoing physical therapy, and will be ready for adoption soon. Email his fostermom at jlspes@bellsouth.net if you'd like to meet this sweet little survivor.

Please help us offset the cost of Turtle's surgery!

Panther

PANTHER is a strikingly handsome 5-year old declawed boy whose elderly owner had to go into a nursing home. Panther has nasal polyps which cause upper respiratory symptoms: watery eyes, nasal discharge, and sneezing. Surgery is expected to cost over $400. UPDATE! Panther's surgery has been completed. In addition to needing a little extra TLC now, Panther is also a black cat, which makes him harder to adopt! Can you give this brave boy the forever home he dreams of?

"Hi everyone, my name is Panther and I want to say thank you to all the nice people that donated money so I could have my surgery. I still have a runny nose, but I don't have any polpys and I think they told my foster mom that I have a blocked lacrimal duct. There's not much the vets can do for it, without reconstructive surgery, and I think I've had enough surgery, so I'm happy having my nose wiped when it needs it and some antibiotics if a secondary infection were to set in.

I'm a super sweet and loving boy. I love to sit on people's laps, wrap my arms around their neck and lick their chin and neck. My foster mom calls me her "snuffly little exfoliator" because I am so good at keeping necks nice and smooth. : ) I love the laser light toy and I like to run around and play with the other fosters here. My nose doesn't bother me at all, so if you can handle wiping a cute little nose once or twice a day and having me hug and lick you alot, please call my foster mom and set up a meeting! (828) 713-9710."

Brewster

Brewster is a 4-year old 20lb minnie Aussie mix who was rescued from a hoarding situation. He is on medication for seizures and we would LOVE to find this great dog his forever home to finally enjoy some peace and quiet! He's been with us for some time because of his special needs; if not for this condition this handsome guy would surely have been adopted already. He gets along with cats and dogs and loves to be held and petted. Donations would be appreciated to help out with the costs of his regular trips to the veteriarian for bloodwork and medication.

Madge

Madge is a 4 years old Giant Schnauzer mix. She is as sweet as can be...seriously, she is loving and calm and likes every dog she meets. She wants to be friends with cats and wags her tail when she is around them. Madge is great on a leash and completely housetrained. She loves to give hugs and would be a great companion friend to your furry animals. Madge is currently undergoing difficult heartworm treatment along with several other sweet dogs in our rescue.

Lady Bug

Lady Bug is a 45 lb +/- terrier mix and was found raising a litter of puppies next to Hendersonville Road. Some wonderful people saw Lady Bug and contacted Brother Wolf. All her pups have since found homes and just when Lady Bug went up for adoption we found out this sweet little girl had heartworms. She is currently being treated and we expect a full recovery!

Chloe

Chloe and her canine friend Abby (a 5 year old Border Collie/Lab mix) were orphaned when their owner passed away. Chloe is a lovely dilute tortoiseshell girl, around 3-4 years old, and is a 'special needs' kitty because she has been blind since birth. But it hasn't slowed her down and she's such a sweet girl! She has no problem using her litterbox or making her way around a house with just a little time to explore and get her bearings. She loves petting and is chatty when her fostermom walks into the room. Chloe would probably be fine with a calm dog, and possibly a gentle cat. Email Chloe's fostermom Jackie at solemn78@hotmail.com if you'd like to meet this awesome girl and give her a second chance at a wonderful life.
