Pet Portraits with Flying Dogs Photography

Join us February 4th from 11am-3:30pm for some great fun and a few photo memories with Sheryl Mann of Flying Dogs Photography. Portrait sittings are $20.00 for a 15 minute session and proceeds go to BWAR. Your sitting includes a free 5 x 7 of your choice! Additional sizes and digital prints will be available for purchase.

Proofs will be retouched if necessary and will be available to be viewed approx. 2 weeks after the event. It will be professionally printed and mailed to you within one week. Shoot will be held at Patton Avenue Pet Company, 1388 Patton Avenue in Asheville. Appointments recommended, but walk-ins will be accommodated as much as possible. Putts for Pets

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue presents Putts for Pets on Saturday, February 4th at Sweet Tee Mini Golf in the Biltmore Square Mall, 800 Brevard Road in Asheville.
Admission is $5 for Tournament (begins at 3pm), or free play from 2-5pm for $7. Tournament Begins at 3pm, every child wins a prize with grand prizes for Tournament winners! Concessions available including candy bars and chips, soda, and beer for adults.

A portion of proceeds benefit Brother Wolf Animal Rescue.

 

Kickoff for Kritters!

Host a Super Bowl Party and help homeless pets! Getting together with friends and family on February 5th to watch the big game? Collect donations for Brother Wolf Animal Rescue and your 'team' can win big!

Prizes will be awarded to teams who collect the most funds, the most supplies, or have the most attendees.

Pet Behavior Aid Training Classes

Pet Behavior Aid, whose mission is to "increase the retention of companion animals in their homes in Asheville and Western NC," offers free training classes to BWAR volunteers. Trainings are held in downtown Asheville at Mountain Lights (upstairs from the Funky Mutt) at 30 North Lexington Avenue, across from Tops for Shoes. There is a maximum of 20 spots per class. Thursday, February 9th, from 6-7:30pm.  Working with Fearful Dogs Training Class:
Whether the dogs have specific fears or are just timid, learn how to understand signs of anxiety, how to prevent fear from tunring into aggression, and some techniques to help dogs come out of their shell. This class is designed for individuals who want to work with fearful dogs at the Adoption Center. Tuesday, February 21st, from 6-7:30pm, Walkin' the Dogs 101:
In addition to providing exercise and mental stimulation, walking time can also help the dogs become more adoptable. Learn how you can teach our dogs to make a good impression when potential adopters come to visit, as well as simple doggy self-control exercises you can incorporate on your walks. We’ll also talk about reading canine body language, especially subtle signals of stress and anxiety, and cover safe handling practices and “defensive driving” walking techniques.

 

Spring Drag Queen Bingo

Brother Wolf Animal Rescue proudly presents the Spring Drag Queen Bingo on Friday, February 10th at the Renaissance Hotel Ballroom, 31 Woodfin Street, Asheville.

Hosted by Natalie Smalls and the area’s finest Drag Queens, join us for a raucous, rowdy night of drinks, snacks and fun... and of course, drama!

Doors open at 5:30pm, games begin at 7pm. Enjoy cash bar with special cocktails available, unbelievable entertainment, fantastic silent auction, exciting live auction, great cash prizes and a fabulous raffle!

Valentine's Day Puppygrams

Sure, a snuggly new puppy tied with a big red bow would get some serious points with the significant other, but if you're not ready for the morning after chewed-up shoe you can still have a furbaby deliver your Valentine's Day love - no strings attached.

For a donation of $45, a cute-as-can-be Brother Wolf rescued dog or puppy will stop by for a visit at your honey's home or workplace on February 14th bearing a flower and personalized card, balloon, and sweet treat. Run for the Paws 5K and 1 Mile Fun Walk

Get ready to hit the ground running for homeless pets at the 3nd Annual Run for the Paws 5K Run and 1 Mile Walk on Sunday, April 22nd at Fletcher Park. followed by a Wagging Wellness Fair for pets and people. The fair will feature awards, live music and tasty food, and the great folks at YMCA and Park Ridge Health will provide free health checks for the public and games for kids. In addition to doggie games and nail trims, our furry friends will have a blast checking out the neat stuff at the pet vendor expo, showcasing the many goods and services available to pet parents in our area.

Asheville Tourists tickets on sale now

The Asheville Tourists, our favorite local Minor League baseball team, is helping our community's animals in need! Purchase your tickets through Brother Wolf and half of the ticket price goes to our rescue. Stop by the Adoption Center at 31 Glendale Avenue to get yours today!

Tickets can not be used for Thirsty Thursdays, or July 4th. All tickets expire August 30, 2012.

 

Get active for animals

Whether it’s an easy riverside stroll or an exciting hike to a spectacular mountain waterfall, have fun while staying healthy - and help homeless animals too!

Explore some of Western North Carolina’s most beautiful walking and hiking trails with an adoptable dog! The Outward Hounds Hiking Club meets every Wednesday and Sunday at 10am, and Saturday at 9am, at the Adoption Center. Popular trails include Rattlesnake Lodge, Bent Creek, Montreat, and Catawba Falls. For more information email volunteer@bwar.org.
