Adoptable Pets

Interested in adopting?

If you are interested in adopting one of the animals you've seen online, please click the appropriate link at the bottom of this page to download an adoption screening form. You may email the completed form to adopt@bwar.org. Thank you! Please note that many of our dogs and cats live in fosterhomes, not at our adoption center. Email dogs@bwar.org or cats@bwar.org to inquire about a specific pet and we'll be happy to help!

Visit the largest No-Kill Adoption Center in Western North Carolina

Our adoption center is open seven days a week from 9am-7pm for you to visit with many cats and dogs looking for homes. To allow yourself time to meet all our wonderful pets and complete adoption paperwork, it's best to arrive 45 minutes before closing. The center is located at 31 Glendale Avenue, just off of Swannanoa River Road, between Biltmore Avenue and Tunnel Road. There is a traffic light at Glendale Avenue; turn there. Head 1/2 mile up the road and you'll see a large red building on your right. Call 828-505-3440 or email info@bwar.org for more information.

Adoption Procedure

If you're interested in one of our dogs or cats you see online, we invite you to come spend some time with him or her in one of our meet and greet rooms. Feel free to bring your own dog if you'd like them to meet a potential new canine playmate. If the animal's writeup says they are in a foster home, contact us at dogs@bwar.org or cats@bwar.org to set up a meeting.

We want to make it easy and fun to bring home a new best friend!  When you choose an animal you'd like to make part of your family, one of our friendly adoption counselors will spend time reviewing your application with you to ensure the pet you've chosen will be a great fit with your home and lifestyle. Your counselor will advise you on training, introductions with to other pets and family members, and can answer any other questions you might have. A home visit may be required for particular animals to make sure their special needs are met.

Fees

Your new pet's adoption fee will be based on age, breed, and species. Dogs age 6 months and older are $125; puppies under 6 months are $150; purebred and 'designer breed' dogs/puppies are $200. Fee varies with medical needs on a case by case basis. Out of area adoption fee is $325 which includes transportation and health certificate.

Adopters can choose the fee they'd like to pay for cats and kittens. Want to see our felines in action? CLiCK HERE for our Cat Room Cam!

Your adoption fee covers the cost of spay/neuter surgery, testing, vaccinations, and microchipping. Your new pet has received all the love, attention, pet meds, and veterinary care they need to join their new family!

Kuranda

Many of our foster dogs and puppies from Brother Wolf Animal Rescue will reside at our Adoption Center until adoption. And boy, could they use a comfy bed, since they're far away from home. Please consider donating a Kuranda Bed to one of our homeless dogs. It's as easy as clicking on the picture at left!
